The interim final research report, which will inform the decision of the Scottish Government in 2011 about the appointment of building standards verifiers has now been published.
This report, by Optimal Economics, reviews the current system of audits of verifiers and sets out the options for how building standards verification might be provided in future. Liz Shiel worked as an associate of Optimal on the assignment.
The research was described by one contributor who offered views on the future of the system as "a well researched and balanced assessment of the current situation. A good piece of 3rd party consultant review."
The final report, in May 2010, will update the report to include the findings of the audits carried out this year.
